''The Old Wagon barn is absolutely lovely and is even better in real life than it looks and has everything you need to enjoy your stay''
The focus today is on the Old Wagon Barn self-catering accommodation available in the village.
The accommodation in the listed barn is compact yet spacious for 2 people and hosted by Marilyn and Chris. Full details and booking can be done via air.bnb and individual details of this fantastic converted barn can be found here. The barn is centrally located in the village within walking distance to the shop as well as the pub, and as a little something extra Marilyn in known to provide a basket of goodies with sometimes a home-made cake. Cycling is the favourite pass time of visitors, walking in the surrounding countryside as well as visiting local attractions and sampling the local beers. A place to stay home away from home, separate yet inclusive to village life. Come and sample their hospitality offered with a genuine smile.

What possessed you buying the shop is a question that often gets asked so what follows is a reasoning behind that.
Both of us are compromised healthwise and we wanted to work and model to our children that no matter what life deals you as a card you can do something. We are unable to work in a conventional way but this way of life suited us and we bought the shop in 2007. We love living in this community and although our previous occupations were people focussed it has been a good fit so far.
Over the last 4 years health has again been an issue and we have felt very supported by the people around us. Roger very much loves the human interaction in the shop and acts as a 5th emergency service keeping an eye out and working with people to live as independently as they can.
Each day is different and we invest time and effort to support life in the community. Currently we act as box office for the Stogumber Festival http://www.stogumberfestival.com and it is a way we can support the village.
Blogposts will be published weekly to give you a flavour of life in this village or have an article that illustrates life in Stogumber for those who want to visit the village.
